uninstalling catos

I have a catalyst 4006 L3 switch which uses catos for the l3 ports and ios for the l2 ports. the 4006 as a supervisor engine 2 blade and a 4148-rj blade. I would like to remove the catos from the switch and use only the ios. Any problems with doing so and does anyone has removal instructions or links to such?

You cannot run IOS natively on Sup2(WS-X4013). You will need either Sup2+, Sup3, Sup4, Sup5 or Sup5-10GE.

Hi,

prkrishn is right. Running either IOS or CatOS is a hardware limitation in Catalyst 4000. Supervisors 1 and 2 (WS-X4012 and WS-X4013) are just Layer 2 and can only use CatOS-based softwares. A separate card (WS-X4232-L3)that is layer-three capable is the one that is using IOS. On the other hand, Supervisors 3 and 4 and higher-end SUPs on Catalyst 4000, can use IOS that has a layer 3 capability.
