I have a Catalyst 6513 switch with two WS-sup720. I want to update the IOS to the lastest, I am running 12.2(17d) SXB9 release software (fc2). I am looking for a way to do this and not bring down the switch. Can someone direct me to some info on how to do this....if it is possible.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

One other possible option that you could keep in mind is called the Fast Software Upgrade (FSU)method. This method still has some down (1-2 minutes for us)time but is much less than reloading the switch (7-8 minutes for us). Here is a link that explains the process.

I hope this helps

Hi Mike,

I know this is not the answer you were hoping for, but you will have to ultimately reload the switch to run the new IOS.

HTH,

Bobby

Thanks for your reply. I am going to try the FSU method.

Thanks. That is what I was looking for.

Hi Mike

I have the same hw/sw configuration you are using. Could you tell me if you were able to use successfully the FSU procedure (I was not..) ?

Thanks in advance.
