Hi, I need to upgrade the IOS of my catalyst 6509. I would like to know the procedures to do it.I have the new version but before installing it I want to know the steps and command to avoid further problems. Can somebody help me to solve this question.

This is what I have

Great procedure - I have a couple of recommendations to add.

Pull the second supervisor out and upgrade them one at a time. The secondary will try to take over when you reboot the first one to reset the bootrom.

Also, before you format the slot0: flash in IOS mode, swap the flash card with the secondary sup. That way, you have the IOS image on the CatOS formatted card and you don't have to do your TFTP a second time.

I upgraded about 5 Cats this way. Saved me a bunch of time having to set up the laptop on each one.
