vlan (global configuration) on 2950 series switch you can use that insted of vlan database for vlans below 1005 or would you still need to use vlan database.
I am a little confused on this.

Hello,
the vlan(global configuration) command can be used to create normal-range VLANs (VLAN IDs 1 to 1005) and extended range VLANs (with VLAN IDs from 1006 to 4096). In vlan (VLAN configuration, entered after first typing ´vlan database´) only normal-range VLANs can be created.

Georg

In the newer versions of code above 12.1.19 it tells you the vlan database is being deprecated in cisco terms , and tells you not to use it anymore and just create it using global commands . The vlan database will probably not be in future releases as they come out .
