Just started using a cisco phone

Hello. I just got a cisco phone and I'm a bit lost. The phone works but says it's not registered. Do I need to get an additional service to use it as a normal phone? Thank you for your help. I'm new to this.

what is the phone model? normally cisco IP phones needs to register with call manager to give services. if you dont have a clue, better contact your cisco partner to get more details
