Hi, can anybody tell me where to look for the server CIVS-MSP-2RU serial number?
At the chassis or via VSOM?
I have not found in the official documentation.

Hi.
I haven't this server but on MSP-4RU serial number on top case near front of server.

I can confirm this. I've worked with all sizes of the CIVS and CPS MSPs 1,2, and 4RU, and the chassis serial numbers are *only* available via the sticker on the top lid of the chassis (there are also stickers indicating eth MAC addresses as well).
It's really unfortunate that there isn't some way to retrieve this inventory data "over the wire".
Regards,
Scott.

Thanks for the help guys, found the serial numbers when pulled out of the rack server.
It is very inconvenient

I appreciate that feedback. I agree that it is inconvenient not to have the serial number available via software polling.
I will search enhancement requests, and if one is not yet filed, I will file one (as a Sev6 defect) to request we burn server serial number into the motherboard bios, and provide a log collection script that can include server model and serial number into the support report (for CPS chassis.)
Thank you again,
Jim

An enhancement request has been filed to include chassis serial number. You will be happy to note that in VSM 7, the vsmc page does contain the server model number. Here is an example.
I hope that helps,
Jim
