RV340 - first time setup and I cannot get to the internet

This is the first time setting up the RV340 out of the box.

I configured my WAN address (from my ISP). I know this works because I can connect a laptop directly to the modem with this IP and I get out to the internet.

I configured a new VLAN (2) to automatically assign IPs.

When my laptop is plugged into the LAN I receive an assigned IP from the VLAN2 I configured.

Why am I not able to connect to the internet?

Am I missing some other configuration that allows the LAN traffic to get out through the WAN?

What should I configure as the VLAN2 DNS if I don't have an internal DNS server?

You need to configure your VLAN DHCP with DNS configuration as example, also need to NAT for those new IP address.

Hi,

First, please use the ‘Diagnostic’ option under ‘Administration’ menu inside the RV340 router to check whether you are getting the Internet on the router itself or not, you may ping any public domain to verify.

If that works fine then you need troubleshoot on the LAN part of the router, IP and DNS settings. Also, please check whether you are able to get the Internet connection on the default VLAN (1) or not once WAN is connected and configured.

In case the ‘Diagnostic’ test is not successful, then you may check whether any MAC binding has been configured on the ISP side or not. If the ISP link is working fine upon terminating the link directly on the Laptop, then it is supposed to be working on the Router as well unless there are any other specific settings influencing that connectivity.
