16port module on ISR4351 not showing interfaces

I have a ISR4351 with running 3.13.01.S/15.4 running the Security feature license.  I installed the 16port module (SM-X-ES3-16-P) and if I do a "show inventory" the router appears to see it.  However, I do not see any interfaces for the card.  I guess I am missing something?   Do I have to enable to module somehow?

Rgds,

Diego

Other than "sh inv" you need to check below connamds:

1. "sh ver" and see how many ports it shows i.e. additoanl 16 ports.

2. "show diag subslot x/x eeprom detail" to see that modules installed correctly

The "sho inv" and "show diag" both indicate the hardware is present.  However, the show ver only shows the 3 onboard Gig interfaces.  Maybe its because we are running ipbase?

IOS is not the issue. Need to cross check with Cisco bcos as per datasheet its not showing supported on 4351

I am going to have to open a case with TAC.  The doc you reference would make it seem that only 4451 should not work but I found a second doc that says 4351 should be cool if on 3.10.  Who to believe? LOL

Maybe you've fixed this but have you tried this command from router prompt: hw session 1/0

This connects a terminal session (similar to console cable) to the switch module.

You should then see the switch prompt & configure from there.

To exit back to router press & hold "CTRL + Q +A"

Thanks, Peter Thomas, for the useful info. I couldn't seem to remember these commands when configuring a new switch module, and your post saved the day!
