Hi all,
I have a 2621XM running 12.3.11T enterprise software to be able to support more than 128mb of system memory.
I have the following origional cisco memory
1x 128mb
2x 64mb
1x 32mb
Al combinations above 128mb are giving me a Unexpected exception to CPUvector 1200 and a reboot after several minutes of operation.
All posible 128mb configurations work fine.
The Cisco output interpeter tells me it is an software error as i expected because all pieces of memory work fine in 128mb or lower configs.
Does anyone have similar experiances or working software / above 128mb configurations ?
Witch software do you use on your 26xxXM with an above 128mb setup ?
TIA
Tom

C2621xm support only 3.3-V SDRAM DIMMs in any two slot combination for SDRAM: 32 MB, 64 MB, 96 MB, 128 MB, 160 MB, 192 MB, 256 MB
Be sure to have 3.3-V SDRAM and not 5-V EDO DRAM DIMMs
To know IOS memory requirements only Software center gave you answer.

thank you for your reply,
All my memory modules are cisco modules for 2600xm series and are correctly recognised by the bootrom and ios. The router will boot and start operation properly but will reboot in about 5 minutes (differs from time to time).
I have tried 128 witch runs fine
I have tried 2x64 runs fine
I have tried 1x64+1x32 runs fine
I have tried 1x128+1x32 Fails
I have tried 1X128+1x64 Fails
I have tried 1x128+1x64 (other 64mb module) fails

Is your BootRom the latest version which supports memory above 128MB? If not you'll need to order an upgrade kit. I did a search in the forums for 2600XM bootrom and found another reply which stated you need bootrom version 12.2 (8r) which supports above 128MB. I believe 12.3 (11T) is now a deferred release, you should download 12.3 (11T2) or later. My 2621XM is bootrom version 12.2 (7r). I will be ordering an upgrade kit. Based on the date of this post you no doubt already know all of this. Good luck.

When you upgraded to 12.3.11T, did you upgrade the ROM monitor as well? I seem to remember that there was some pre-requisite there, but I cannot find the information for the moment.

I have a similar issue. I've upgraded my 2621xm to support memory above 128MB. I'm running advanced security IOS 12.3(11T3), Everything appears to run normal, until I attempt to VPN from a client on the inside of my network to a VPN server on the internet. The router will immediately crashdump and reboot. This also happens on 12.3(11T2). All combinations above 128MB fail this way. Install only 128MB of memory and everything is fine. I'm considering opening a TAC case on this issue.

I contacted the TAC and this is a known bug. Bug ID: CSCeg24367. It will probably be fixed in the next release 12.3(11T4).

Thank you,
I did not realy need the upgrade so i was not realy in a hurry, but as a technician i am bothered by the big why question.
Lets just sit tight and wait too see what happens,

I just had to know also. The TAC engineer said the fix should be incorporated into the 12.3(14T) release which will be out some time in March, (not the 12.3(11T4) that I had mentioned in the previous post). I'm hoping they will put it out sooner.

I've loaded both the 12.3.14T and 12.3.11T4 Advanced Security IOS on my 2621xm. With 256MB of RAM the 14T load, during bootup gives me a segV error, and crashes and reloads, continuously. Dropping this to 128MB, the router works, although watching the log, I notice spurious memory errors. the 11T4 load, crashes and reloads with a segV with 256MB of RAM but appears stable with 128MB. I'm currenlty running the 11T4. I suppose I'll have to wait until 14T1 or later before anything works with memory above 128MB.

12.3(14T1) is defenetivly better but still it reboots in evry one or 2 days.
12.3(11T5) however seems to do the trick, its up for 5 days and does nit seem to have any ptoblem sofar.
i'm using it with mmtp/mppe , nat, inter vlan routing, firewall, ntp server/client.

12.4.1 performes the same as 12.3.14.t1 :-(
i guess i would have to downgrade to 128mb for the time being. As i would like to use knew features.

I've noticed spurious memory errors with the latest 12.3T and 12.4.1 IOS. The errors usually occur within a day after reloading the router. I'm staying at 12.3.11T5 for now. I'll keep trying the newest revisions, eventually they'll get it right.
