What are my options for adding gig ports to my 3825 router? I am needing to use the security package for IDS and needing 6 gig ports minimum.

You can only have up to (2) 1Gbps routed ports in the 3800 Series router:

If you need port density, I recommend getting a Catalyst Switch.
A Catalyst 3560 may meet your needs.

You can't get 6 gig ports in a 3825. What do you mean by 'security package for IDS'?

A 3825 doesn't offer the performance to fully drive 1 gig port let alone 6 gig ports. That being so, perhaps you might consider adding one of the various 10/100 Mbps multiport modules. Otherwise, there's the HWIC-1GE-SFP (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps5854/product_data_sheet0900aecd8016be8d_ps5855_Products_Data_Sheet.html) or the NM-1GE (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/modules/ps2797/ps4908/product_data_sheet09186a008010fbd7_ps5855_Products_Data_Sheet.html) but you won't be able to reach 6 (I believe).
Unclear about your requirments for security package for "IDS". There are security IOS feature sets and add-on security hardware. For the latter, see:http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps8395/index.html
