Hello!

I'm trying to config remote backup acces from Cisco 4221 to switch 2960L using router's combo aux/con port. I connected these devices with rollover cable. The router doesn't have physical aux port, but it has combo aux/console interface. Configuration of line console and line aux:

line con 0
login local
transport input none
stopbits 1
line aux 0
exec-timeout 60 0
modem InOut
no exec
transport input all
transport output all
stopbits 1

Output of show line comand:

Router# sh line
Tty Line Typ Tx/Rx A Modem Roty AccO AccI Uses Noise Overruns Int
0 0 CTY - - - - - 0 19 0/0 -
1 1 AUX 9600/9600 - inout - - - 0 0 0/0 -
* 866 866 VTY - - - - - 1 0 0/0 -
867 867 VTY - - - - - 0 0 0/0 -
868 868 VTY - - - - - 0 0 0/0 -

Output of show line aux 0 comand:

Router#sh line aux 0
Tty Line Typ Tx/Rx A Modem Roty AccO AccI Uses Noise Overruns Int
1 1 AUX 9600/9600 - inout - - - 1 0 0/0 -

Allowed output transports are pad telnet rlogin ssh acercon.

When I try to reverse telnet to switch i receive the message, thet connection is open and then nothing happens:

Router#1.1.1.1 2001
Trying 1.1.1.1, 2001 ... Open

I used different configurations of console and aux port, but couldn't fix the problem. On cisco comunity many topics with simple reverse telnet issues, but there are no discussions about combo interfaces. I will appreciate you help!

Just  for information, here is an e-mail from cisco engineer about this issue:

"After researching I found the following bug, that describes the limitation with this hardware: 4221 with the aux/con port.

I reached out to the product team and they are not able to fix this, since it’s by design due to hardware limitation."
