ASR1001

Hello All,

I need to activate a 20 G throughput license on an ASR1001 router. The router is currently running image version 17.3.5. Can someone please advise me on the best approach for this, while also considering the need to activate Smart Licensing?

Should I start by activating it for the Smart licensing using a token and then proceed to activate the throughput license afterward?

Your guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

anything about 16.9 have smart License option, do you have smart License account (You require a virtual account in the Smart Licensing server for registration.) and device able to communicate to Cloud to contact smart Licese, then that is the right approach.

below guide help you :

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/access/isr1100/software/configuration/xe-17/isr1100-sw-config-xe-17/smart_licensing.html?bookSearch=true

you can enable throughput license as below steps :

https://content.cisco.com/chapter.sjs?uri=/searchable/chapter/content/en/us/td/docs/routers/asr1000/install/guide/1001-x/asr1hig-book/asr1hig-book_chapter_0101.html.xml

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Hello!

Well the first step is to get your license on the smart licensing portal. Then connect your router using a token to the smart account, and then you can assign the license. If you have an airgaped enviroment you can always use SSM on-prem or a permanent license reservation which will let you install the license directlly on the device.

Thank you for your response. I followed your advice and everything is working well with version 16.09. However, I recently upgraded to version 17.03.05, and now I'm encountering the following issue:
