I am trying to configure a newly installed 1MFT t1 WIC card for ATM communication. The router is a 2651 version 12.2. I have issued the mode atm, framing esf and linecode b8zs. But mode atm is not shown in the show run command. Have I missed a step?

I did a quick search and it shows as '1-port RJ-48 multiflex trunk VWICT1'
It's not an ATM module so the mode you need to use is T1, not ATM.

It's the WIC card present when issuing 'show diag' or 'show inventory'?
Perhaps your IOS code does not support the module.
Please refer to the WIC documentation:

I have a sneaking suspicion I don't have a compatable router. I do not have the choice of using AIM. Below is the version, and the show diag shows the T1 controller (see below)

on a XM router it should be support per the documentation. What does 'show inventory' displays?
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/voice/command/reference/vr_m3.html#wp1370241
Can you physically view the part number?
Regards,
Edison

I don't have show inventory, I have show interfaces, which shows 1 serial port and two FastEthernet ports, but not the T1.
The part number is listed as 800-03568-03 from the show diag command.
08-22-2011 02:35 PM
I did a quick search and it shows as '1-port RJ-48 multiflex trunk VWICT1'
It's not an ATM module so the mode you need to use is T1, not ATM.
08-22-2011 03:28 PM
Well I guess that is why I was unable to set the mode to ATM. Thanks Edison.
08-22-2011 03:36 PM
One last thing... it only allows ATM as the mode of choice but doesn't list the mode from the show run.
2651#config t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
2651(config)#controller t1 0/1
2651(config-controller)#mode ?
atm Configure ATM mode
2651(config-controller)#mode atm ?
2651(config-controller)#mode atm
2651(config-controller)#
2651# show run

Yes, the CLI won't prevent you from having the choice but the configuration won't take as the card itself isn't an ATM.
