Backup interface is supported on serial or ISDN interfaces. Routers do not support backup interface on Ethernet.

Hello,

the right tool to use is an LACP aggregate inteface configured at L3 towards the C3750 stack, it can be configured in the same way on the C3750.

if this would be unsupported on ASR  I would look for using IRB on ASR side.

if even this is unsupported use two indipendent L3 links with an IGP running on both of them.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Giuseppe,

There is support for link bundling w/ ASR and your suggestion is the right one for this case

Edison,

I have used bundles on IOS XR with 12000 so my guess was based on this fact.

it is better to provide links when possible, but I was short of time when I have answered.

Best Regards

Giuseppe

you can do that on 7200 for ethernet..

R3#sh ip int brie

Interface                  IP-Address      OK? Method Status                Protocol

FastEthernet0/0            unassigned      YES NVRAM  administratively down down

FastEthernet1/0            1.1.1.3         YES NVRAM  up                    up

FastEthernet1/1            1.1.1.3         YES manual standby mode          down

we have solved the problem by upgrading the software
