Hi,
I have a problem to upgrade my cisco 2851 router with the latest IOS immage. the file is over 32MB. I have no luck to upgrade it with tftp server. It looks like the router act as tftp client has some limitation to download 32MB file. I used the FTP protocol, it works fine.
I have two question here:
1. Does Cisco realise this issue? Is there any Cisco DOC available?
2. If the Cisco router tries to copy the file with ftp protocol, does the router use Passive mode or Active mode?

There were some limitations (file sizes and names/security) with Cisco's free TFTP server and hence it has been discontinued for some time.
Have you tried solar winds free TFTP server?

yes.
I tried solar winds TFTP server and WinAgents TFTP server.
I know WinAgents TFTP server can transfer over 80MB file.

I think the problem is with IOS, and not necessarily the client you are using.

Thanks, Paresh
I have read that field notice before. I think I am faceing a new challange that the Cisco router can not lownload file from tftp server if the file is over 32 MB.
You know, when you type COPY TFTP FLASH. The router is acting as tftp client to access tftp server on UDP port 69.
Cisco IOS is still a kind of unix operation system. So I think it is Cisco IOS issue.
Can you please talk to Cisco develop people?
Thanks

Try TFTd32. It has always worked for me even with large files.

Thanks!
I used your tftp server software, it works.
Then I used my old Winagents TFTP server. it also works this time.
Very strange problem!!!

Why don't you stop using tftp for ios upgrades altogether? FTP is more reliable, faster and doesn't have the size limitation mentioned above.
Just my 2 cents.
