can't ping between IKEv2 DVTI tunnels

I have created a DVTI (hub) - SVTI (spoke) setup in my lab running on IKEv2. The tunnels are fine and running, but I can't ping the tunnel endpoints. I don't have any routing running at this point, but I was under the assumption that I should at least be able to ping the tunnel end points from the router?

if you are referring to FlexVPN, which you probably are, the short answer is: in order to reach the Virtual-Template/Virtual-Access on the hub, and the tunnel endpoint on the spoke, you need to have routing in place. E.g. in EIGRP you would have to announce the respective virtual-access template and tunnel interfaces...
