Hi,
CAR is configured on our ISP link with the purpose of manipulating packets sent out on this interface. A bandwidth statement of 30meg has been configured on this interface. My question is will this bandwidth have any impact on the CAR config. The ISP pipe itself is STM1 and we have the full 155meg.
Can anyone confirm that the rate-limiting process will not take the bandwidth configured into account when dealing with the outbound packets or maybe point me in the right direction on the cisco website?
Thanks
Mary

Bandwidth parameter in the interface-config mode is only informational. By itself it doesn't limit traffic, but it may be used to police (rate-limit) traffic if you configure 'police rate percent' in some class of a policy-map (but you can also use absolute values there).
If you simply have 'rate-limit' statement within interface config, bandwidth statement from the interface doesn't affect it.

Here's the CAR link http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios111/cc111/car.htm
