Cisco IOS version 15 with OSPFv2

Hi all,

I want to find IOS version 15 for Cisco 888 router with OSPFv2. I searched In Cisco Feature Navigator, but couldn't find any (versions that I found all are with OSPFv3).

So how to find IOS v15 for 888 with OSPFv2?

Thanks

I believe it is not listed because they simply refer to OSPF version 2 as OSPF.

In my personal opinion, OSPFv3 is OSPFv2 supporting IPv6.

Therefore, I can surmiss that if the router can support OSPFv3 then it should be capable of supporting OSPFv2.

Hi Leo,

In my personal opinion, OSPFv3 is OSPFv2 supporting IPv6.

It is unfortunately not that simple. OSPFv3 has been reworked in several aspects in comparison to OSPFv2. OSPFv3 is not a simple extension of OSPFv2 for the IPv6 address family.

In any case, I happily agree that if the IOS supports OSPFv3, it most probably also supports OSPFv2 - but not because these two protocols are similar but rather simply because the OSPFv2 has been a routine part of all common IOSes for a long time, and if the IOS is so feature-rich to contain OSPFv3, I do not see any reason why it shouldn't contain OSPFv2 support as well.

Best regards,

Peter

Good point, Peter.

Thanks to all for reply. Problem resolved.

To have OSPF in IOS version 15 , I have to activate license for "advipservices" feature.
