Cisco router 800 series router FE WAN port not working

Antonnifo

Level 1

I have a Cisco 800 series router that was previously configured to work with an ISP router in bridge mode. Unfortunately, the person who configured it forgot the password. Following this video tutorial (https://youtu.be/YRGfiHIJ860), I was able to reset the password. However, after the reset, I noticed that the Cisco router is not functioning when connected to the FE WAN port from the ISP router. I'm concerned that I may have unintentionally erased the previous configurations during the reset. If that's not the case, what else could be causing this issue? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Just a short video showing you how to reset the password on a Cisco router. As a consultant, this happens to me all the time. A client calls, wants some router work done but they dont know the router password.

Can you post show run (from the device )

what is the status you see when you issue show interface fas x/x (have you tried changing the cables ?)

by default some ports are in shutdown mode - you need to no shutdown to bring up the interface.

-- Each morning when I wake up and look into the mirror I always say ' Why am I so brilliant ? '
When the mirror will then always repond to me with ' The only thing that exceeds your brilliance is your beauty! '

I did not watch that video. But pretty much all of the password recovery processes boot the device bypassing the startup config to gain entry. Is it possible that your router still has the config register set to bypass the startup? When you log in to the router what do you get when you use the command

show start

Also do

show version

and look down at the bottom and tell us what it has for config register.
