Whenever we try to configure a switch, we use the command configure terminal.
When we type just configure, it asks terminal, memory or network.
What is the significance of each? Can someone explain?
Switch#configure
Configuring from terminal, memory, or network [terminal]?

Hi,
You use configure terminal, which is the default, if you want to change the device's running-config stored in DRAM.
Configure memory changes the startup-config in the device's NVRAM.
Configure network changes the device's config stored in a TFTP server.
