good day fellaz.
i have a 1900 router...almost new. from this morning i noticed it started hanging and upon troubleshooting i have noticed that the CPU process looks like so;
#sh proc cpu
CPU utilization for five seconds: 93%/31%; one minute: 92%; five minutes: 74%
PID Runtime(ms) Invoked uSecs 5Sec 1Min 5Min TTY Process
1 0 11 0 0.00% 0.00% 0.00% 0 Chunk Manager
2 56 188 297 0.00% 0.01% 0.00% 0 Load Meter
3 4 1 4000 0.00% 0.00% 0.00% 0 LICENSE AGENT
4 0 1 0 0.00% 0.00% 0.00% 0 RO Notify Timers
5 2948 202 14594 0.00% 0.33% 0.28% 0 Check heaps
6 16 68 235 0.00% 0.00% 0.00% 0 Pool Manager
7 0 1 0 0.00% 0.00% 0.00% 0 DiscardQ Backgro
108 263388 229210 1149 57.87% 57.29% 37.52% 0 IP Input
why is my IP Input process so high? this router has been working just fine so far. there are no routing protocols on it, just static routes only. what is going on guys?

Likely you have enough traffic to justify that. You did not even mention what exact model router do you have and what average traffic, so it's impossible to say more.

Amos
Can you explained which subnet mask are you using on your interface ?
Do you used a secondary ip address ?
Or can you send us a sh ip int of your router.
The IP Input process is often a problem regarding the fast switching.
