EIGRP vs OSPF

Both are IGP routing protocols.

If you have a network only with cisco equipments what is the best option?

Depends on the size of the network. If you have a small network, less than 50 routers, eigrp could be the better choice. Otherwise, using ospf with creating multiple areas.

Hello,

I have followed this post for a bit and have a question.

I have a SonicWall with an ASA5510 behind that for a second layer. I have VPN coming in to the SonicWall from some locations, but want to create a VPN for instant failover at some of our bigger locations. IE - If a T1 fails, I want to be able to go out a broadband connection VPN with a 506E or created by the router itself. From everything that I have read, OSPF is going to be the better way to go on this (Especially since OSPF is the protocol of choice of the SonicWall). Any advice for me on this?

If you have a large, stable network OSPF can do well but EIGRP is slightly easier to configure and handles default routes quite nicely.

Good IP planning is critical either way.
