Hi - I need to implement SSH on 2 3600 series roouters running IOS 12.3(9). I read a few Cisco articles and although it looks easy. I cannot get it working. The commands do not work that are int h e DOC.

Can someone let me know how this is done or disable SSH altogether

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello DJ Stanley,

support of SSH depends on the specific feature set the IOS image is part of

if you post

sh ver | inc image

it will be possible to check if SSH is supported on your current IOS image

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hi Stanley

To enable SSH on router you can run the below command also.

ip http secure server

Chetan,

The command you're referring to is to enable HTTPS on the router (not SSH).

To enable SSH first look you have a k8 or k9 image.

Please post the output of ''sh ver''

Federico.

Hi Federico

Please try this command with k9 image & let us know the output.

It work for both HTTPS & SSH.

& If any issue let us know .

Chetan kumar

Looks like this doesn't support. Anyway just to disable telnet. I don't really want to have to upgrade

the IOS on the 3 routers since there is always the possibility that it could go south.

Hello DJ,

as Federico has correctly noted in the filename there should some special character to indicate SSH support

in your case the filename is

c3640-is-mz.123-9d.bin

i

: IP subset (SNMP, IP, Bridging, WAN, Remote Node, Terminal Services)

s: (NAT, IBM, MMP, VPDN/L2F) In 11.3T added VOIP

if there was a k8 or k9 or kn with n>=4 SSH support would be present

Hope to help

Giuseppe
