Extending LAN subnet over the WAN to a remote Location

I was wondering how I can provide the same subnet at 2 locations over the WAN? Is there documentation on ways to do this with routers or birdge's etc.

If you truly mean the "same" subnet - the exact same host range - I think bridging or NAT are your only options. Pretty difficult to route the same net to multiple locations.

I'm curious, is there a business requirement or something that requires this config? Seems odd is all.

We have devices that cannot change their IP's and are moving to a new location one at a time. I'm not sure NAT will work but maybe bridging. Is there any documentation you might find useful?

I know it sounds strange but it Management is asking for miracles.

My issue is that I want the overlapping networks this we are transitioning from one site to another and cannot change the IP. I think the following is a good start but I need to make sure it can be done over the WAN as opposed to locally according to the document.

Hi! If I understand it correctly, you're moving some equipment from one place to another right? Without changing the IP addresses of these equipment. Well, I think the easiest way to extend your LAN is by bridging. There are modems that can enable you to bridge your network from one location to another. Most of these modems has an ethernet interface connected to your network and a different interfaces or transmission type provided by your telco. This setup will be transparent from your network thus having a logical ethernet connection from one office to another. Different speeds from 384Kbps to 100MBps connection is available depending on your provider. This is much easier to setup than using routers at both ends. Hope this helps.

Thanks and Regards,

Albert
