Hi all,
I got the following error doing a debug on a frame-relay & couldn't find any doc that explain the problem. Hope some1 from here can help. The error as follow:
"Serial0/1:encaps failed on broadcast for link 7(IP)"

Hi Lum,
This is the symptome of a missing Layer3 to Layer2 mapping.
Use the "frame-relay map ip x.x.x.x yyy broadcast" command under interface Serial0/1 to remedy the situation.
x.x.x.x is most often the ip address of the next hop router (or another router within the same subnet).
yyy is the DLCI, the identifier of the PVC through which you can reach that router on Layer2.
Cheers:

The error means that there is no frame-relay map entry for the ip address.
Inverse-arp is disabled as well as there is no static frame-relay map statement on the router

Use point-to-point subinterfaces with "frame-relay interface-dlci" and all issues will go away. Why bothering with mappings when there is a simpler way ?
