Frame Relay Traffic Shaping

When doing Frame Relay Traffic Shaping between two routers, if the following command is configured on the two routers interface support the DLCI

"frame-relay adaptive-shaping becn"

So this will enable the router receiving congestion to tell the distant end router to apply flow control on the traffic? Does any other commands need to be applied under the dlci?

Hi,

When you have "frame relay adaptive-shaping becn" configured, it only implies that the PVC adapts the rate of transmit in response to the BECNs received. If the PVC receives any BECNs, the transmit rate is decreased by 25 percent up to Mincir (Guaranteed rate). When you have "NO frame relay adaptive-shaping becn" configured, it will not respond to BECN received. The rate will not decrease in respond to BECN received.

Hope it helps,
