hi i m bit new to security......can someone plz tell me what is GRE tunnel....for that we have to make a tunnel first.....i m bit confused abt this concept....whast the dissrence between Gre and normal tunnel.....cheers and thnak sin advance

IPSEC tunnels can only handle unicast traffic, while GRE tunnels can also accommodate multicast, which is required for routing protocols like EIGRP or OSPF. So if you create a GRE tunnel, and then configure IPSEC to encrypt the GRE tunnel you get around this limitation of IPSEC.
