Hardware recommendation for WAN switching

I have been asked by my CTO if the C3750X switches we are currently using as a core are recommended for WAN switching. I have done some homework and from what I have gathered the answer is no, but what would be a hardware recommendation. I don't have an end goal of what he is trying to accomplish yet.

Thank you,

Jim

Hi jpgleason,

first question: you mean  layer 2 switching or you just mean moving packets form LAN to WAN (i.e. routing) ?

In any case to answer your question it's important to know some more information, for example: which kind of WAN link are you going to connect ? Which feature do you need (e.g NAT, IPSec,...) and which routing protocol (and how many entries in routing table).

Bye,

in the meanwhile try to have a look to attached document
