How to bridge T1 line with Serial Leased Line

alexlim1984

Hi,

We have a setup which really need the Cisco Expert guys' advices.

We have 2 Cisco Router, with Voice DSP modules cards, and the T1/E1 Interfaces, and smart serial interface. We will install 1 unit at each site, and every site already have 1 leased line ready.

The scenario we trying to achieve is that we want to have a logical connection to connect T1/E1 connection to both sites, by using the leased line.

Is that possible?

Your question is a bit ambiguous.

If you have leased lines at both locations, its not too difficult to connect things.

     a. where do the leased lines terminate ? at the other locations?

     b. What kinkd of leased line ? T/1 or E/1?

you can start by digging in here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_2/interface/configuration/guide/icfserin.html

Yes, it possible. But if you will attempt do-it-yourself, it will be  difficut for yout to deliver sure and consistenat resutls.

You should hire an UC Certifies Cisco partner, or reputable consultant of equivalent experience instead.

Hi Guys,

The scenario is such as below. There are 2 site of equipment that will be connecting to Cisco Router via the E1/T1 interfaces, each at site A and site B.

What we are trying to achieve is to "brigde" the incoming Leased Line connection to the E1, so that Customer Device at Site A can have logical E1/T1 connection to Customer Device at Site B.

Appreciate if anyone can offer a sample configuration, or expert advics on this. Millions Thanks !!

What exactly is the  customer device ? The proper solution depends on that.

Customer devices should be Avaya Devices, with E1 interfaces to cater for voice call functions.

Just wondering how to configure the Serial Interface, and "bridge" it to both E1 and LAN ports. Or if you guys have any others great ideas, it would be fantastic !!

Appreciate your helping hand! Really bumping my heads against the walls now ...

You will use VWIC cards and PVDM modules to connect the PBX with VoIP.

Please remember to rate useful posts clicking on the stars below.

Hi, Paolo,

Any possibility if you have any sample configuration for this? or some guidelines?

The Cisco Router we have is installed with VWIC cards and PVDM modules.

Thanks.

The best configuration examples are in the Cisco documention.

Again, if you are serious about this and want professional results, do not try DIY, hire instead someone with experience.

Thank you for the nice rating and good luck!

Hi,

One of the site will be using LongReach IR+ http://www.longreachwireless.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=42&Itemid=28, and the other will be using http://www.motorola.com/Business/XU-EN/Product+Lines/Dimetra+TETRA/TETRA+Infrastructure/MTS4__XU-EN_PK-EN_XF-EN.

Both are to be connected to the Cisco Router E1 interfaces, using PRI-Group on E1 interface. Anyone does this integration before?

Million Thanks !!

Hi,

Some updates. The network (leased line) is actually layer 2, and we have configure site A router BVI of 10.10.7.1, and site B router BVI as 10.10.5.1. Both can ping to each others without any problems.

For the bridging, we have also bridge the serial interface and the LAN interface at both router, so now we need to also bridge their E1 interface, so that their end devices can have logical connection to each others, such as below setup.

CPE 1 --- E1--- Cisco 2911 ----- Serial -------------> Leased Line <---------- Serial ----- Cisco 2911 ---- E1 ---- CPE2.

I have get a E1 interface running, and configure the timeslots accordingly. However, both the serial 0/0/0:X is showing LINE UP, PROTOCOL DOWN.

Can someone share any info on this? Hereby I upload the configuration file of both router.

Hi guys,

any updates?

we just need to make sure that all interfaces are bridge to the leased line interface to provide layer 2 connectivity for lan port and the e1 ports as well.

please help on advice.

As indicated before: you have to configure you must use VoIP, not bridging.

And if you want sure and quick results, hire a reputable consultant.

Hi Paolo,

Just an update. We don't need to setup the voice calls by using the Cisco Router.

What we need to do is that we would need to "somehow" connect from the Cisco E1 interface to CPE E1 interface. Once we issues the command "Channel-group 0 timeslots 1-5", we have the serial 0/0/0:0 interface created.

So, at the serial 0/0/0:0 interface, we bridge the interface to serial interface (from leased line) by using the "bridge-group 1" command. However, the Serial0/0/0:0 is up, line protocol is down.  Any ideas how to get the issues troubleshooted?

You have to look at both routers, and make sure the configuration matches.

Note, you will have bad resutls using bridging, you must use routing.
