How to get serial number with command (show diag not working)

Folks, I need to get serial number from remote 6509.

I tried 'show diag' but no output returned.

This is IOS version 12.2(18).

Does sh ver work? The processor board id is the s/n.

Sh ver command should work with 6509 to view the serial no.

U can find it appended with Process Board ID.

True. I did not realize that "processor board" is the same than "SN"!

"processor board" is NOT  the same as "SN"

'Show module' would be the appropriate command on a 6509. It would even provide the card serial number along with the chassis serial number.

I use "show idprom backplane" if you are looking for the chassis SN. If not the there are other options after "show idprom ________"
