Inpurt frames errors on gigabit connection to provider.

We have two ASR1006 routers, one at each remote site, connected into a provider's optical WAN network.  The provider hands us a gigabit ethernet link at both ends.

Both the ASR1006s are running  asr1000rp2-advipservicesk9.03.06.01.s.152-2.S1.bin.  We are using EIGRP as the routing protocol. Here's the problem:

EIGRP doesn't form a neighbor relationship between the two remote routers. On one side, the router drops the EIGRP connection stating too many retransmissions.  The other router gigabit interface reports input frame errors, which increase every couple of seconds. On that interface, I've replaced the fiber SFP and the fiber to the provider's switch but the errors continue.  The provider put a loopback on his equipment toward our router interface and the frame errors stopped.  The provider then removed that loopback and put a loopback toward our interface on his equipment on the other side of his optical WAN.  The input frames errors started up again.

Is it looking like the frame errors are coming from the provider's equipment?  Are frame errors link local? In other words, can a frame error be generated several hops away and be past through a network?  I was under the impression that a frame error would not travel through several pieces of equipment, but would be dropped by the first downstream piece of hardware that receives the frame.  But maybe I'm incorrect.

Correct, the errors should be local and not passed through the network. What type of errors are you seeing? Can you post a show interface output?

Here is the output of 'show interface' you requested.  I did it again a couple seconds later to show the input frame errors increasing.

Please also post "show controller ethernet-controller GigabitEthernet0/2/0".

Are you using ZX GBICs? Keep in mind that the minimum link distance for ZX GBICs is 6.2 miles (10 km) with an 8-dB attenuator installed at each end of the link. Without attenuators, the minimum link distance is 24.9 miles (40 km).

The ASR1006 doesn't have the command 'show controller ethernet-controller....'.  I did find this command though:

Reading the specs for the ZX the RX light levels should fall between -23db and 0db, which it does in the above output.

I'll get with the carrier and make sure we have the correct transceiver, although we did change out the ZX with an LX earlier and were still getting frame errors.
