IOS missing in 2950G switch

Hello,

I have a cisco 2950G switch which does not boot very well. It stops at rommon mode ie switch:

I have been searching for the cisco ios for 2950G switch on cisco.com but not available. Hence i downloaded the cisco ios for 2960 switch. I have been trying to transfer the file via xmodem but it does not display successful. I am using extra putty to achieve this.it really shows that the transfer has begun but after about 15 minutes, it will stop.

In a bid to figure out if it has to do with xmodem ,i did transfer of startup-config file  and it was successful.

I dont know if the ios i downloaded is compatible with 2950G switch

Any help will be appreciated.

Collins

Hello, i have already resolved this issue. Sorry,i forgot to update. I
downloaded a wrong ios ,hence the xmodem could not transfer the file. I had
to google around for 2950G ios since cisco is not supporting the product
any more.
Thanks for your response

Hello Bro,

i run into similar problem but with my router, so here is the steps to follow.

in the rommon mode you need give ip address of the management interface and connect ethernet cable from your laptop to the switch and make sure you assign static ip which should be same as the interface on the switch.

rommon 1 > IP_ADDRESS=10.1.1.9 (give ip address within your local subnet)
rommon 2 > IP_SUBNET_MASK=255.255.255.0
rommon 3 > TFTP_SERVER=10.1.1.10
rommon 4 > TFTP_FILE=c2800nm-advipservicesk9-mz.151-4.M12a.bin (ios file name)
rommon 5 > DEFAULT_GATEWAY= (the TFTP server ip address)

Kind regards,
rommon 6 > tftpdnld

hite yes to continue.
