IP SLA for failover

I have the below setup and I want to get a Cisco router to enable failover between my ISP links.

At the branch end, failover happens as there are only connected to the Headoffice MPLS lines.

Whereas in the Headoffice, failover does not happen, and we have been manually changing the priority of the route.

The NPA that we have is to introduce a Cisco router between the HO Firewall and the ISP MPLS links inorder to actively monitor the the two paths and automatically choose the secondary ISP incase of primary link failure.

Fortigate 300A - Headoffice

Foritgate 50B - Branch

Could you please suggest a suitable router that can cater to my requirement [it is a small business] and also help me configure this setup?

Thanks!!

Thanks Alain!

GNS3 doesn't have 1800 or 1800 series routers

This isn't working!

Hi,

use a 3660 router.what is important is IOS version that supports the feature.

I already did it with GNS3 and it works.

Hi,

I am trying to configure IP SLA responder on a Cisco 1841, IOS 12.4T.

corp(config)#ip sla responder tc

corp(config)#ip sla responder tcp-connect ?

  ipaddress  Permanent address

  port       Permanent port

When I give the IP address as 172.16.1.2 255.255.255.252, it prompts me for the permanent port.

The port that is connected to this is fa0/0, 172.16.1.1.

I am not able to enter the same, is there a mistake in what I am trying to do?

All,

When there is a failover does it change the entry in the route table to the failover IP?
