Hi Folks,
I have an IR809. The router has two GiEthernet ports which I believe are L3 interfaces. Do you know whether they can be setup as switchports?
I wish to put both ports in a VLAN and setup a L3 VLAN interface on the router but I don't think this is possible on the IR809.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers,
Phil

I am not familiar with the IR809 so I spent some time looking through documentation for it. It does not seem to specify much about the Gig Ethernet interfaces. But I believe that you are correct that these are typical ISR router routed interfaces and as such can not be configured as switchports. But I believe that there is a way to achieve what you want. You should be able to configure IRB on this router, configure a bridge group and assign the bridge group to both Ethernet interfaes, and configure a BVI interface for the bridge group assigning the IP address to the BVI. Here is a link to a discussion which apparently was successful in configuring this.
