Re: Issue with routing?!? I know I'm missing something.

Just a small suggestion.

If I have the same type of problems you are experiencing I normally set up a sniffer (wireshark) so that I can know if the packets hit the target or not. regardless of firewall or not.

If you have ethernet between the routers (I think I saw somewhere that you were using serial links then this does not apply) you can connect a switch inbetween the routers and mirror a port to sniff the traffic there, then you can track down the problems much faster.

Good luck

Strange. It looks ok on PT.

Can you post the output of "sh controllers serial 0" and "sh int s0" of both routers?

Hi

Yeah I know thats something really odd is going on.

I will post it tomorrow cause now i need to go to bed - I'm working in the morning.

Thanks all for your responses.

I'll be back tomorrow.

Once again thanks.

And by the way - when I turned on my lab today I couldn't ping host .1 anymore.

Re: Issue with routing?!? I know I'm missing something.

Hi ,

I think that this time you forgot the static route on R1, pointing to R2

ip route 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.192 192.168.1.65

You can post for the sake of clarity :

show ip route

show ip inter brie

from your 2 equipments

OK.

I figured it out.

Sorry for the hustle and your help everyone.

On the laptop and PC I have also WiFi cards installed. When they are turn on i can't ping from hosts when I turn WiFi connections off, hosts are able to ping each other.

I did not know that can impact connectivity - I discovered it by accident.

Sorry guys - I know I was pain i the a.s.

Can anyone can tell me why it works this way?

Thank you all very much!!!

Issue with routing?!? I know I'm missing something.

Probably because of the 2 default gateways that you have on the PC.

As far as I know , Windows OS has an real problem in functioning with 2 default gateways on 2 different network cards.

Thats good to hear that you found the problem. The reason it works this way with PCs that have wireless as well, is when a connection is set as default, and in your case (as in many other laptops) the wifi connection is the default.

The output from last two commands it shows that you have the right cable connected, configured clocking signal on the right end, and that PPP is configured correctly. The rest is for smart people to understand

It was my pleasure to help

All the best
