We have several Cisco Nexus 2248 going back to Nexus 5596. My question is, if you have a 2248 in production and it fails, what is the process when you swap the appliance out? Will the 5596 hold the information or I'll you need to push the config later?

Hi Marc,
So long as you take care to plug the new FEX into the same 5K port that the old FEX was plugged into (so that it uses same fex-associate statement), your FEX interface configurations will come back when the new one is brought up.
Kind Regards,
Kevin

Yes, 5548 will update as long as fex channels are correct. 2248 and 2148 are not intelligent devices they are just fabric extenders and rely on 5k.
