Hi,
I have a query regarding the ping with larger packet size using -l in Windows based systems. When i ping my remote site devices using normal ping the response is ok .The pipe between the two sites is 1G .Same is ok for a packet size of 10000 bytes but when multiple sessions are opened to the same device using -l with 10000 bytes packet starts dropping what can i assume about it although the link utilization is hardly 5mbps .

Hi Farooq,
When you send packets larger than the path mtu, these packets need to be fragmented. The fragmented packets then need to be reassembled by the destination host. The fact that ping packets are being dropped might have to do with the destination host not being able to properly reassemble all the packets. If you are trying to test the capacity of the circuit, I would suggest better tools such as iperf.
