POS Loopback Testing

I am trying to put up a loopback to my self by issueing the looback internal command but when I do so the interface shows up/down looped.  Shouldnt it show up up looped?  Do I need to do somehting else?

That is normal with PPP.

If you were to use HDLC encap, it would would show up/up (looped).

Ok then I would be able to run the ping test correct?  Would I be pinging my local interface?

Yes, but that is irrelevant for diagnostic purposes.
