Hello Colleagues,
I have Cisco 2901 ISR router with Version 15.1(1)T of IOS. There are 3 cards in EHWIC slots inserted
VIC2-2BRI NT/TE, VIC3-4FXS and VIC2-2FXO.
When system start I got message:
*Oct 23 11:04:36.715: %MAINBOARD-1-UNKNOWN_WIC: wic card in location 0/0 has an unknown id 0xFF
*Oct 23 11:04:36.739: %MAINBOARD-1-UNKNOWN_WIC: wic card in location 0/2 has an unknown id 0xFF
As you see slot 0/1 is not visible - faulty?
Additionally:
show diag:
WIC Slot 0:
Unknown WAN daughter card
Unknown EEPROM ver 255
EEPROM format version 255
EEPROM contents (hex):
0x20: FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF
0x30: FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF
WIC Slot 2:
Unknown WAN daughter card
Unknown EEPROM ver 255
EEPROM format version 255
EEPROM contents (hex):
0x20: FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF
0x30: FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF
I checked compatibility of HW and IOS with above cards - ok.
I even installed different IOS 15, M family - without success.
I am struggling with this one week.
What is importand: ISDN card was replaced - it was burnt by electric current coming from thunder.
Is it good assumption that common bridge in router architecture might be faulty due to short circuit.

Try swapping cards, and see if the problem stays with the slot, or with the card.

Hi Paolo,
Thank you for interesting my problem.
I did it before. Cards are still not recognized, none of them. All this makes me think router is faulty, just I need specialist opinion to order a new one.
Unless you have some another experienced method of verification.

Working card not recognized == faulty router.
