Hi,
We're trying to offload IOS files from operating CSR1000v VM on ESXI host.
As our plan, we're trying to uncheck options in VM device status and select Client Device in Device Type.
Do we need to turn off VM first before unchecking options in Device Status?
And we want to know if there will be issue after powering up the VM.

Hello @kay.kang
It's generally a best practice to power off a virtual machine before making changes to its configuration. In this case, it would be a good idea to power off the CSR1000v VM before unchecking options in the device status and selecting Client Device in Device Type.
Once the changes are made and the VM is powered back on, there should not be any issues related to the changes made to the device settings. However, it's always a good idea to have a backup of the VM before making any changes, just in case something goes wrong.

To be safe - if this is not in production, shutdown the VM and cleaning is good practice.
