Anyone know the difference between

The 'p' software

Like

c7200p-fpd-pkg.124-24.T7.pkg

c7200p-kboot-mz.124-24.T7.bin

c7200p-advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T7.bin

and the software without the 'p'

c7200-boot-mz.124-24.T7.bin

c7200-kboot-mz.124-24.T7.bin

c7200-fpd-pkg.124-24.T7.pkg

It seems ours runs without the 'p' but I dont know if I should attempt to install the 'p' version.

Any Help Appreciated

James

Hi James,

I believe that the 'p' versions are intended for NPE-G2 versions of the 7200 router. If you don't have NPE-G2 in your 7200 router you probably should not try to run the 'p' version.

Do you known the Cisco Feature Navigator tool? It's a great tool to use in these cases. Visit http://cisco.com/go/fn

Best regards,

Peter

only NPE G2 routers use 7200p image to boot.

NB: Also includes the 7201 (but not the 7301), I believe.

P as others discussed refers for NPE network processing engine -2 ie G2 which is a processor at the back of 7200

few images which are without p for 7200 router usually have G1(similar to G2 ) NPE -300,400 etc.

only NPE G2 routers use 7200p image to boot.

Hello Joseph,

NB: Also includes the 7201 (but not the 7301), I believe.

Correct - the Feature Navigator claims the same.

Peter
