Replacing switch, clear ARP?

I have a location that has two 24-port switches whose IP addresses are (for example) 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.5. I would like to replace these two switches with a single 48-port switch and use IP 192.168.1.1 for the new device. The new switch will connect to the Cisco 2911 router. What are the potential issues here and will I need to clear arp-cache on the router once the new switch is connected?

Thanks!

These IP in SW if SW is pure L2 is use only for mgmt not use for data traffic.

It use by SW to connect to aaa and syslog and other server.

If you change two SW with two different mgmt IP with one SW with one mgmt IP you need to clear arp in device connect to otherwise the other device will use old mac until arp is aging

I have never seen a scenarios where you need to clear the ARP cache when replacing equipment. At its possible worst the cache I think is about a 5 minute hold time if its not updated. Which would be less time it would take the switch to even boot up. You should be fine replacing the device as is and the router should update its dynamic ARP cache.

Hope this helps.

Hello
No issues , you should be fine, I assume the 48 port switch has the same switching/port capabilities as the 2x24 port switches?

Yes, same capabilities. Thanks!

I am making the change Thursday afternoon. I'll mark the issue solved at that time.
