Hi Amit,
This did clear the config back to default, but what I really need is the default SDM configuration that is sitting in flash. How do I copy this config from flash to NVRAM?
Here is my flash directory:
Router#show flash

I have not had to do this so can not speak from experience. But it looks to me like the file is flash: sdmconfig-18xx.cfg is what you need. When you erased nvram you left the router with a very empty config - including no SDM. I believe that this file from flash will have the SDM config that you need.

Try using command,
Copy flash:SDM_Backup startup-config
