1. I have a CICSCO 877W router. How do I restore a running config from a different 877W so it completely totally overwites config from my existing config.

2. If I do so will it ask me for the username and password from the restored config file ?

1. copy the running config to a text editor such as notepad

2. Paste this config on the privilege console on the other router.

3. save the configs

Once you have configs restored, it will ask for the new credentials as in the restored file.

Are you by any chance trying to reset the password? If yes then the above procedure will not help as you need to be in the privilege mode for doing this which means you are required to authenticate on the router.

you need to do a password recovery on the router to reset the passowrd

HTH, rate if it does

Yes, you shouls know username and password to get running config backup..

1) Copy run tftp (Start TFTP on one Machine)- backup

2) Copy tftp start (For an another device)- Restore
