Route addition on C1100 16.9.x

Hello,

So a question with the C1100 one of our sites has decided to change to these routers because the old ones are end of line.

Config copied on fine, however no external traffic works.

using the using I have found that when you add a routes as the below:

ip route 10.1.x.x 255.255.255.255 172.18.x.x name NIAL

That it adds the name part as the metric distance. My question is as we have roughly 100+ routes to add is there any way to add a name/description to the routes on this software version?

If its not possible its fine, will just make maintaining and adding routes in future a bit more tiresome.

Thanks in advance

in this document syntax is specified as :
ip route prefix mask {ip-address | interface-type interface-number [ip-address]} [distance] [name] [permanent | track number] [tag tag

try to specify the distance before the name and no keyword "name"

keywords are in bold, normal text is a value

Hello,

Thanks, the name is only to name the next hop, ie like this internet/
192.168.1.1.

There is a tag feature which is only numbers, so it doesn't seem like its
possible at all.

hmm…. an older document does specify the "name" keyword in the syntax

ip route prefix mask {ip-address | interface-type interface-number [ip-address]} [dhcp] [distance] [name next-hop-name] [permanent | track number] [tag tag]

But.... specific to the C1100, no route name in the command syntax !!!!!

Cisco 1100 Series Software Configuration Guide, Cisco IOS XE Fuji 16.9.x

   ip route prefix mask {ip-address | interface-type interface-number [ip-address]}

So bad luck I guess, looks like you need to switch to another model router to use this feature)

I didnt quite understood the question can you explain it.

Please do not hesitate to click the STAR button if you are satisfied with my answer.

Hi,

Normally you would name the route. ip mask hop name EG

however on this software, anything put after the hop goes down in the admin
distance form on the GUI, there doesnt seem to be a way of naming the route
at all
