I am wondering if there's any difference at all between:

A: "redistribute connected subnets route-map ROUTE_MAP_NAME"

and

B: "redistribute connected route-map ROUTE_MAP_NAME subnets"

Yes that are the same- The

OSPF SUBNETS

command states classless prefixes (subnetted) will also be redistributed because as by default only classful prefixes would be.
