Routed Port in Vlan

How can i make a crosslink by 2 routed ports. The switchport in the router has vlan1 and the routed port cannot ping the vlan1 ip. On the other router i had the same interfaces.

How can i add the routed port to the vlan1 ??? So the port should act as a switchport.

Thanks

The interface GigabitEthernet1/0 should be in the vlan1 but i cannnot ping the vlan1 interface from GigabitEthernet1/0.

Why?

Thanks

Hi,

Interface gi 1/0 is not a switchport it  is routed port, so must have an IP address.

Yes this is my problem. Can i change it to an switchport that is in vlan1????

Try this:

int g1/0

switchport

switchport mode access

switchport access vlan 1

I can only assume the g1/0 is a L3 port then and you won't be able to change that. You may need to move to one of the other g0/3/? ports and that should resolve the issue...

** Edit **

I looked over your inventory, and this is a 2921. So, I'm also assuming that you have hwics in the router that allow you to configure switching. That being said, your 2 switch modules are 0/1 and 0/3. The g1/0 is going to be the L3 port that would only be able to be configured as a L3 interface and not a member of vlan 1. You will need to move your connection to the switching module...

So the crosslink by the switchport is working but i want to take the fiber connection for that. So can i change the L3 g1/0 fiber port to a switchport connected to vlan1 or not?

The fiber is much more faster than the switchport.

Is this possible or not? I don´t know how to change a L3 interface to a L2 interface connected to a vlan.

Thanks

Raimund

Hi

to get round this just give int Gi 1/0 an IP address say 10.0.0.3 255.255.255.0 and make that address the default gateway on the switch as I assume the router is connected to the Internet or the rest of your network.

Raimund,

The simple answer is NO

How can i add the routed port to the vlan1 ??? So the port should act as a switchport

Fine below....

switch(config)# interface fastethernet 0/x      (( example))

switch(config-if)# switchport mode access

switch(config-if)# switchport access vlan1

switch(config-if)# end

switch# write

switch# exit

Regards

Sorry but the command is not available in my interface.

Which one is not available inside your switch ??

The switchport command is not avialable in my interface GigabitEthernet1/0.

So it is a Layer 3 port and i would connect it to vlan1. Is this possible? With witch command?

Thanks
