Router processing issue

Dear team,

We have a problem with the high processing issue of the router. This router also performs multicasting .So we need a quick fix for this problem. Please provide some solution or advice for this problem. We have attached a screenshots with this message.

Is your CPU average usage going above 75%?  If not, something like 66% should be acceptable.

Also, BTW, assuming Cisco's IOS prioritizes network (data plane) processing over management (control plane) processing (and it should), even if you drive the CPU to 100%, it's not really a "bad" thing if a lower priority process sucks up all free CPU.  I.e. what's critical is the data plane (supporting, for example, multicast replication) gets the CPU it needs.

When you see CPU usage spikes (assuming you're not hitting a bug), is it always the SNMP engine?  How often are you polling the device (from SNMP) and/or how much data do you pull?  I.e. have you tried reducing polling frequency and/or amount of data being pulled?  (Also, depending on what data is being pulled, and capabilities of SNMP management station, if it can be configured to do "bulk" gets, vs. individual gets, that might reduce CPU load.

A private joke of mine is, with SNMP, we've discovered our high CPU load and high link load is due to SNMP.
