Routing Issue

We currently have 2 cisco routers, each router has 2 10/100 ports and 1 10mb port.

They are linked via fastethernet 0/0 and also ethernet1/0.(there are some wireless bridges in between the routers connecting to these ports)

The primary is fastthernet 0/0 and the ethernet 1/0 is the secondary.

We are currently running eigrp across the link

If we disconnect the main link at the remote end the router at HQ does not see this link go down as there is a wireless bridge in between, however, because of this the static route we also have in there goes over the primary link constantly and wont send packets over the secondary link as the interface itself is still up.

any ideas ?

Are you saying that both routers are connected to each other by wireless bridges,

My EIGRP is a little rusty but if under normal conditions you can see the opposite router as an EIGRP neighour (show ip eigrp neighbor) then do you need to have a static route forcing traffic down your primary route?

If you remove this route i believe EIGRP will give you unequal cost loadbalancing over the two links and should one link fail, EIGRP will detect this via helo packets and the opposite link will be used to route traffic.

Hi,

Where does the static route pointing to? What is the next hop IP. Is it the ip of the fastethernet interface at the remote end or the wireless bridge.

well AD of static route is lower then eigrp learned routes and it seems to be that the static route is either pointing to the outgoing interface of the router at HQ or the next hop IP is poiniting to some other device.

Let us know.
