Hello,
I had to reset a 6509 MSFC2, using reset command on the switch. However when the msfc2 reloaded it had a different configuration than the starup-config. I have a daily backup of start-up config and it was very different from that. I had to make many changes to bring it back to normal. What now I dont get is from where did the msfc2 got this config file? and how can I avoid this from happening again... I want it to load start-up config when it loads...
Below is the output for bootvar and all the boot statements in the config
#sh bootvar
variable = bootflash:c6msfc2-psv-mz.121-27b.E1.bin,1;bootflash:c6msfc2-psv-mz.121-13.E11.bin,1
CONFIG_FILE variable does not exist
BOOTLDR variable does not exist
Configuration register is 0x2102
boot system flash bootflash:c6msfc2-psv-mz.121-27b.E1.bin
boot system flash bootflash:c6msfc2-psv-mz.121-13.E11.bin
no ip bootp server
Thank you.

HI,
Looking at your config register 0x2102 it should be booting the image from the flap and getting the config from the nvram.
Looks like that is not happening wihen you did the reset. I did not find any bugs on the code you are running.
To make sure of the full config and verify the set up, i would suggest that you open a case with the Cisco TAC so that they can go over your config and verify it for you.
Thank you
Raymond

Thanks Raymond. Even I did not find anything which could explain it.I will open a TAC case for it.
Thank you.
